MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS OF NON-STATIONARY QUEUES IN TRAFFIC FLOW WITH PARTICULAR CONSIDERATION OF THE COORDINATE TRANSFORMATION TECHNIQUE
The paper discusses the method of treating non-stationary flow at junctions and intersections based on "coordinate transformation technique" (CTT). The purpose of the paper is: to establish and apply the exact methods from queueing theory for non-stationary condition so far that they produce concrete results; to investigate the accuracies of the non-stationary models for mean queue lengths and mean waiting times derived from the CTT are investigated; to determine an approximation formula to determine the variances of the queue length or the mean waiting time where the CTT model is confined.
