CHARGING FOR THE USE OF ROADS
This article is a companion piece to a paper titled "The Long-Term Value of Value Pricing in Metropolitan Areas" by P. DeCorla-Souza, published in this journal (Volume 56, Number 3, Summer 2002). Discussion and delineation of various transportation pricing concepts, including tolls, congestion pricing, value pricing and variable or peak period pricing, are provided. The article is followed with a response from P. DeCorla-Souza on the definition of value pricing.
