CORPORATE PLANNING IN SHIPPING: RELATING THEORY TO PRACTICE PART I: CORPORATE PLANNING DEFINED AND THE SETTING OF CORPORATE OBJECTIVES

In the first part of this paper the major decision areas making up the conceptual framework of corporate planning were considered and then the first of these decision areas--the setting of objectives--was examined in more detail. Part two continues with an examination of the core of the subject: strategic decision-taking. Examples of the development of a number of shipping companies during the past decade are used to relate theory to practice.
