THE DESIGN OF BRITISH AIRPORTS AUTHORITY PAVEMENTS
The British Airports Authority (BAA) owns and operates 7 major airports within the U.K., namely, the 3 London airports of Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted, together with Prestwick, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Glasgow in Scotland. This paper looks at the design of BAA pavements, and discusses loading, pavement types, including composite and flexible pavements, and plain, reinforced, and prestressed concrete pavements.
