THE OERESUND BRIDGE
The 0eresund Bridge is part of the user-fmanced motorway and railway link crossing the Sound separating Denmark and Sweden. The 15.8 km 0eresund Link consists of a 4km immersed concrete tunnel, a 4 km artificial island and a 7.8 km bridge. This paper describes the design and construction of the bridge and also the owner's successful strategy in the procurement of this major international infrastructure project. Construction started in 1995. The value of the contracts constituting the Link was US$4billion. The Link opened on budget on the 1st of July 2000, three months ahead of schedule.
