A MODEL TO SIMULATE TRAFFIC STREAMS, INCLUDING ELECTRIC POWERED VEHICLES
A model to simulate traffic streams, including electric powered vehicles, for any flow level in microscopic fashion is reported. It is shown that phenomena on shock wave movement are replicated in microscopic fashion. Simulation results are reasonably consistent with observed traffic behavior. The model is useful in practice. It is proposed that simulation of congestion buildup and/or dissipation phenomena in microscopic fashion is useful to know how is the desirable interval to place vehicle detectors for optimal controlling of traffic stream in macroscopic fashion. Simulation results can be effectively used in more macroscopic models to test and to refine them. (A*) For the covering abstract see ITRD E110327.
