TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS IN TRANSPORT: AN IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY FOR UNDERGROUND FREIGHT TRANSPORT. IN: TRANSPORT AND ENVIRONMENT. IN SEARCH OF SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS
This paper describes how, since the beginning of the 1990s, there has been a renewed interest in the underground transport of freight in the Netherlands. Underground transport is expected to be a sustainable way of freight transport within urban areas. The results of recent studies conducted in the Netherlands look promising. However, there is no clear view on policy aspects of this technology, especially long-term. This paper attempts to define the role of this new state-of-the-art technology.
