CONGESTION LENGTH CONTROL OF ARTERIALS

This paper focuses on the control of congestion lengths of arterials by using a signal control system and a balance control algorithm. A congestion mechanism which is critical in controlling congestion lengths is described using a nonlinear time-varying discrete dynamic system and synthesized by using feedback control. It is shown that by comparing the signal control parameters and congestion lengths between measurement values and simulation values, the signal control system and the balance control algorithm are able to reduce the congestion lengths on the arterial.
