PUNCHING OF A PRESTRESSED AND NORMALLY REINFORCED CONCRETE BRIDGE SLAB SUPPORTED BY A COLUMN

This report is a study of punching of a prestressed concrete bridge slab longitudinally prestressed and transversally normally reinforced. The investigation comprised laboratory tests on six slabs with different numbers of prestressing wires, percentage and distribution of transverse reinforcement and concrete quality. Also one of the slabs was tested with respect to shear reinforcement. The following properties were measured: material strength and stress, ultimate load and failure type, crack formation, concrete shortening, reinforcement strain and deflection. Calculations of lontigudinal and transverse fracture moment, flexural ultimate load and punching load were carried out. In addition, comparative tests on beams were carried out. /TRRL/
