THE SPACE OF TERROR. IN: THE GEOGRAPHICAL DIMENSIONS OF TERRORISM
There is a clear need for the academic and policy communities to turn a critical eye toward space, using the perspectives and tools of geography to elucidate the ways in which different spatial arrangements and understandings both foster terrorist impulses and facilitate terrorist activities. There are at least 3 spaces that deserve attention in this regard: activity spaces, policy spaces, and perceptual spaces. Geographers and others have written much on each of these types of spaces, but there is little published work that links them directly to terrorism. This paper provides an overview of the few links that have been made, together with a consideration of the insights that could be gained from further exploration of those links.
