THE DALLAS CASE STUDY: MOCKINGBIRD STATION AND ADDISON CIRCLE. IN: THE NEW TRANSIT TOWN: BEST PRACTICES IN TRANSIT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT
This chapter discusses efforts by transport entities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area (Texas) to make greater use of rail and transit-oriented development (TOD). The importance of efforts to expand TOD in the suburbs of the Sunbelt cannot be overstated as low density cities worldwide struggle to establish more sustainable transportation systems and land-use patterns. The focus here is on recent progress in the area of TOD achieved by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) since the late 1990s.
