AIRBAG PROTOTYPE FOR A MID-SIZED TOURING MOTORCYCLE
This paper describes the testing of an airbag for a mid-sized touring motorcycle. Performance was assessed on sled tests and full-scale crash tests, where the motorcycle crashed into the side of a car, using a dummy as the motorcycle rider. Tests were performed with and without airbag. Film evaluations show that the airbag could be useful to reduce impact-induced loads to the rider as well as to guide the rider's movement into an upward direction over the roof of the car.
