NEW COLD RECYCLING AND MIXES PAVING TECHNOLOGY
This article describes the development, production and use of a cold mix bitumen emulsion in Sweden. Two groups of cationic emulsions were developed using a new emulsifier which provides electrostatic stabilisation and introduces a steric stabilisation mechanism. A breaking and thickening agent is added to the emulsion which is used for cold mix production. Mix design and production techniques are described. Laboratory and field testing of the finished product show increased service life and slower ageing. For the covering abstract see ITRD E120872.
