MEASURING THE SUCCESS OF TRANSIT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT: RETAIL MARKET DYNAMICS AND OTHER KEY DETERMINANTS
Transit-oriented development is often touted as the answer to urban transportation woes. There has not been much research, though, on the efficacy of transit-oriented development in changing the travel behavior of metropolitan residents. This paper addresses some studies relating to transit-oriented development. It notes that more research is needed on retail market dynamics and non-work travel, and the possible constraints these areas exact on transit-oriented development.
