MF2000 TO START TRIALS THIS YEAR
This article describes the tendering process and the resulting rolling stock required by the Paris metro for a fleet of new trainsets. The contract was divided into lots by technical function to allow specialist suppliers to bid in the fields where they performed best. Specific features include regenerative braking, on-board data recorders, sustainability, wider seats, disabled and wheelchair accessibility, quietness, ventilation and heating, and driver-focused improvements. Other trainset types in use are to be replaced in the future in a rolling programme.
