THE CURRENT STATUS OF SIGNAL CONTROL SYSTEMS, AND RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
The paper recognizes the need to reconfigure the signal control system that has been developed over the years and now needs to be upgraded to today's state-of-the-art technologies. The signal control as a whole is described, and the current problems are identified. The paper then introduces the concept of the new system now being developed by JR East, and describes a part of the future signal control system envisaged.
