ROAD SAFETY ENGINEERING AND COLLISION INVESTIGATION

This paper provides a brief overview of the fundamentals of what constitutes a safe road and how safe roads take into account the needs, expectations and capabilities of human road users. Human factors in road and traffic engineering is briefly outlined. The possible value of road safety engineering to collision investigation in terms of assisting courts to achieve fair and equitable decisions in motor vehicle cases is briefly outlined and discussed.
