INTEGRATION OF CYCLING & LIGHT RAPID TRANSIT: REALIZING THE POTENTIAL
In this paper, results of a recent project that dealt with the integration of cycling and light rapid transit (LRT) are discussed, with particular reference to recent experience in the U.K., but also drawing on relevant lessons from other countries. The focus is on safety implications for cyclists from LRT and LRT-related infrastructure, the advantages and disadvantages of existing and possible in-vehicle arrangements for bicycle access, and the requirements for bicycle parking at LRT stops.
