INFLUENCE OF CAPACITY CONSTRAINTS ON AIRLINE FLEET MIX
The paper discusses the findings of an analysis of traffic patterns at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) that examined how airport capacity constraints might influence future trends in airline fleet mix. The study undertook an analysis of recent trends in passenger traffic and aircraft size in different types of market from LAX. The analysis was supplemented by an empirical study of the influence of airport delays on the average size of aircraft that is in use in a large number of U.S. domestic markets.
