THE CALIBRATION OF THE HDM-4 MODEL IN EASTERN EUROPE
Calibrating pavement evolution models is essential to ensure the relevance of the technico-economic analysis of maintenance rehabilitation alternatives of road networks and projects. To perform the calibration of the HDM-4 model, it is necessary to have history and survey data of pavement condition. The diversity of geographical conditions and the unreliability of certain data make the task more difficult. This article shows through a series of examples the procedures that can be implemented to achieve that task. The work to be performed is complex and also requires the skills of practitioners. This experience also provides recommendations as regards possible improvements to be brought to the HDM-4 model.
