WEATHER AND ITS ROLE IN AVIATION DELAYS AND SAFETY: ANATOMY OF A WEATHER DELAY
This presentation discusses the "anatomy of weather delay." The two key elements are the forecasting of severe weather and the impact of severe weather on national airspace system (NAS) operations. Two perspectives are presented, one from the meteorological perspective of what do we know about weather and what kind of weather forecasting we can do, and the other from the perspective of how to use weather forecasting operationally to control traffic.
