AN EXPANDED NATIONAL HIGHWAY RESEARCH PROGRAM
Progress in highway transportation depends upon the results of research. The article describes the expansion of a national research program in highway transportation. Various research organizations such as educational institutions, industry, and state and federal highway departments are conducting the research. Areas receiving special emphasis include the development of improved information retrieval and storage systems, quality control of construction materials, road tests, automated highway transportation, and individual transportation systems.
