LEARN FROM THE SAFEST : WORK-ZONE SAFETY ESTABLISHES A STRONGER PRESENCE IN THE CLASSROOM
This article focuses on the Work Zone Traffic Violator Awareness Program that is being promoted by the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA). The program, which involves a detailed curriculum and an accompanying 90-minute CD-ROM, is designed to raise drivers' awareness to the presence of roadway workers in work zones and the hazards of driving in work zones, as well as offer motorists safe driving tips. Officials hope that eventually motorists who are convicted of infractions in work zones would be directed by judges to attend the course and ultimately receive either points on their license or a reduction in the fine.
