DETERMINANTS OF RULE COMPLIANT BEHAVIOR IN ROAD TRAFFIC. VARIABLES OF NORM INTERNALISATION AND THEIR INTERACTION WITH EFFECTS OF POLICE ENFORCEMENT

Prevention of road crashes and resulting injuries is seen as one of the main roles of traffic police enforcement. The term 'norm internalisation' has become an often emphasized concept from sociological perspective. This paper attempts to compare the influence of 'norm internalisation' with the variables constituting the deterrence effect on the compliance with rules in road traffic.
