SINGAPORE'S TRANSPORTATION VISION
The small island nation of Singapore is only 650 square km in area, which means that urban planning is an important issue and necessitates a strong dedication to efficient transportation. This article reviews the country's long range plans that include a fully automated heavy rail line. The system is expected to handle the existing rapid population growth and development - the 1981 daily trips of 2,7 million grew to 7 million by 1999.
