THE FERNANDO NORIEGA, JR. PALM AVE. GARAGE : A NEW FEATURE IN YBOR CITY
This article describes the construction of the Fernando Noriega, Jr. Palm Avenue garage in Ybor City, a popular historic district of Tampa, Florida. A new parking facility was needed to accommodate the growing local scene as well as the resident and floating population of Hillsborough Community College. Officials felt that a suitable garage design would appear congruous with its surroundings and highlight the pedestrian feel of the landscape. With this in mind, a 1,200 parking space, stylish brick facade building with bricked arches and steel staircases was built for a relatively low cost construction cost of $11 million, or $9,166 per parking space. Other details of the parking structure, including its architecture, structural qualities, provided amenities, daily operations, functionality, and photographs are also included in the article.
