EMERGENCY BRAKE FUNCTION OF INERTIA BRAKE SYSTEMS
KATASTROFBROMSFUNKTION HOS PASKJUTSBROMSAR
The emergency brake function of seven different trailer inertia brake systems has been studied. Measurements of relevant parameters for the emergency brake function were made and tests of brake performance when the trailer was separated from a towing vehicle at 50 km/h were conducted. The tests were carried out with the trailers and brake systems both in original condition and with some modifications. The results provide a basis for a proposal of provisional requirements for the emergency brake function of inertia brake systems. The suggested requirements are easy to check at laboratory-testing for type-approval of inertia brake systems. /Author/
