COLUMN LOADS CAUSED BY VEHICLE IMPACT
PAAKOERNINGSLASTER ORSAKADE AV FORDON
The present report deals with steel and concrete columns designed to withstand heavy vehicle impact loads. The course of accident and the off road behaviour of the vehicle are described as well as the effect of vehicle weight and speed. Theoretical models for vehicles and columns are put forward and calculations are carried out. In addition, there is a description of German crash tests carried out by Camillo Popp. Finally the results are discussed and recommendations for design load are presented. /TRRL/
