TECHNICAL POSSIBILITIES FOR SIGNALIZATION
TECHNISHE MOGELIJKHEDEN VOOR BEWEGWIJZERING
In ancient times the romans used name-plates for streets and route-indicators for foreigners. An innovation is the use of signs which can be changed from a distance. They can be subdivided into: signs which are visible in incident light, signs in which light is transmitted from behind, traffic signals and matrix signs. Another innovation is the giving of auditory information to the driver. It is recommended that these signs should be standardised internationally. /TRRL/
