PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF VELOROUTES WITHIN METROPOLITAN AREAS
Two basic alternatives for developing veloroutes within metropolitan areas will be explored: (1) reusing or sharing of existing roadways and (2) uniting underutilized land corridors and rights-of-way. For case study purposes, the Los Angeles metropolitan area will be used to amplify these alternatives, building them into a flexible and practical grid system. Construction of intra-urban veloroutes can channelize traffic into a fairly rapid, safe, convenient, attractive and healthful environment which would permit urbanites to continue their community's everyday life. /TRRL/
