A QUANTITATIVE MODEL FOR NUISANCE
EEN KWANTITATIEF MODEL VOOR HINDER
The utility of a transportation system, such as a road structure or a public transport system, is affected greatly by the nuisance caused by the operation of the system. In this paper an attempt is made to quantify the nuisance. A model is suggested which describes the relation between the nuisance experienced and its origin. The model has been applied to several types of nuisance, namely the influence of the number of transfers and the walking distance on the appraisal of public transport, the influence of the noise level on the nuisance experienced and the influence of traffic density on the mean speed.
