PIONEER OFFSHORE LNG TERMINAL
The terminal described at Cove Point, Maryland will take delivery from the largest ships available for carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG). The LNG will travel to shore at minus 260 F in submarine pipelines contained within a subaqueous tunnel. Several types of piling support various parts of the terminal facilities. The tunnel sections rest on specially prepared underwater foundations of gravel bedding and riprap locking material. The onshore facilities are also considered.
