DEEPWATER MOORING SYSTEM HELPS SAVE TIME
A combination chain/rope anchor line system that allows quick mooring in 600 to 2000-ft water depths is described. The innovative mooring systems, now being used by Zapata Off-Shore Co. on it new rigs, has demonstrated significant time savings in deepwater anchoring. The system, used on SS-2000 class semisubmersibles, is designed to be run out, set, and retrieved quickly and easily using existing anchor-handling workboats and equipment permanently installed on the rig.
