LNG TERMINAL WILL EASE GAS SHORTAGE
This article describes a 1-billion-cfd base-load LNG receiving and regasification terminal which is nearing completion at Cove Point, Md. Initially, the terminal will handle 650 MMscfd of gas. A new 36-in. pipeline carrying regasified LNG inland that features dual computer-controlled measuring and regulating stations for BTU calculations and delivery is also described. A fleet of nine 125,000-cu-m tankers will be used for transporting the LNG to the new terminal. Basic components and functions of the terminal are discussed and the terminal loading scheme is presented graphically.
