NEW FLOATING BREAKWATER PROTECTS SCOTTISH BRIDGE

Possible applications of the breakwater described include protecting the scar end of a reclamation bund or to decrease downtime and overdredging in a dredging operation. The breakwater covers an area 55 m long by 18 m wide. It is formed in three square sections. Members are 900 mm wide and 300 mm deep formed by horizontally bolting together lengths of 300 mm square section hemlock. The breakwater displacement is approximately 200 tons.
