POLYURETHANE PREPOLYMERS: AN OVERVIEW
Polyurethane compounds are widely used by the coatings industry. The technology has been developed over many years to cover a vast range of chemical and physical properties and application methods. This article deals with the basic reactions of polyurethanes, particularly aromatic polyurethanes used in high-performance maintenance painting. It concludes that polyurethanes as two-component systems or as prepolymers continue to grow in response to increasing technical demand. Coupled with increasing environmental and health and safety awareness, the chemical producers must respond with innovative and cost-effective solutions.
