CONTROLLABLE-PITCH PROPELLERS FOR NAVAL VESSELS
Controllable-pitch propellers are now standard equipment in motor and gas turbine driven naval vessels, for example mine-sweepers, corvettes, frigates and destroyers. Larger ships have been built with ratings up to 29,500 kw per shaftline. This paper endeavors to demonstrate the advantages of controllable-pitch propellers, enlarges upon special requirements and presents a review of design problems.
