MARCONAFLO SYSTEMS - STATE OF THE ART

Since 1968, MARCONAFLO Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marcona Corporation, has been actively involved in developing materials handling systems specializing in slurry transport. The original emphasis on the development of these systems were the application of MARCONAFLO principles to the marine industry. The initial phase of MARCONAFLO technology was very successful in that two of marcona's ships, a combined capacity of 190,000 deadweight tons, are capable of receiving and discharging concentrate in slurry form. With that initial development, MARCONAFLO has since become synonymous with slurry materials handling concepts. There are a number of commercializations which now exist, and current efforts include developments in areas of hydrometallurgy, underground mining, in-plant transfer and tailing reclamation. Numerous examples and the details of each system are presented in this paper.
