ON-LINE COMPUTER DETERMINATION OF THE UNSTEADY LIFT CHARACTERISTICS OF HYDROFOILS BY A MULTI-FREQUENCY TECHNIQUE
This paper discusses an on-line computer experiment aimed at determining the unsteady lift characteristics of hydrofoil sections using multi-frequency disturbances and numerical processing based on fast Fourier transform techniques. The results achieved are compared with those obtained using a conventional Transfer Function Analyzer. The advantages of the former approach are the vastly reduced time required to perform the experiments and the very small input disturbances necessary to excite the system under test.
