THE INFLUENCE OF SOIL BEHAVIOUR ON THE PERFORMANCE OF DRIVEN PILES

The article examines the importance of soil behaviour on pile driving. It also describes and analyses the phenomena of increases and reductions in driving resistance with time after initial driving and links these with changes in porewater pressures. An understanding of these factors is considered important in order to establish the long-term performance of driven displacement piles. /TRRL/
