SEA LOADS ON OFFSHORE PLATFORMS, DESIGN WAVES AND SEA SPECTRA, PART ONE

For the analysis of dynamic loads on offshore platforms, it is more practical to substitute to the motion of load that of environmental conditions due to the sea. The installation considered in this report is a mobile platform, including semi-submersible and self-elevating platforms, and fixed platforms including steel jacket, steel gravity, and concrete gravity platforms. The environmental factors discussed are water depth, tide range, wave climate, currents, presence of ice in sea and atmosphere, fouling, wind, temperature, presence of snow in atmosphere and soil conditions. A discussion of sea behaviour and structural analysis of offshore installations is given.
