SEABULK'S SUCCESSFUL "CATUG" CONSISTS OF CATAMARAN TUG LOCKED RIGIDLY TO BARGE
The unique design of the Catug tug-barge combination incorporates a twin-screw catamaran tug that fits closely over and around the specially contoured stern of the barge. The bulk of both vessels are faired so that when mated they resemble a single hull. They are locked together by a patented system of hydraulically operated latches on deck and wedges between the inboard sides of the tug hulls and the tongue-like extended stern of the barge. Details are provided on the advantages of the catamaran tug, the locking system, preliminary and design studies.
