ASPECTS OF DEMAND FOR URBAN GOODS MOVEMENT IN CITY CENTERS (ABRIDGMENT)
Urban goods movement demand is primarily dependent on the mixture of land uses present in a particular area. The practice of urban goods movement in downtown areas has been found not to change appreciably with time, either in nature and composition or in the volume of trips demanded. Other factors, such as size, sales volume, and location, do not influence the volume of the demand as much as the nature of the economic activity of the establishment. The concept of the specification index as a tool for measurement in the development of a comprhensive model for urban goods movement is analyzed.
