COMPOSITE BEAMS OF CONCRETE AND A RESIN MIXTURE, CONTAINING METAL REINFORCEMENT

TRAVE MISTE DI CONGLOMERATO CEMENTIZIO E CONGLOMERATO DI RESINA IN UNIONE CON ARMATURE METALLICHE

This article gives the results of experimental research concerning the bending behaviour of a composite beam of concrete and an epoxy-resin-aggregate mixture, with steel reinforcement. Details are given of the mix design of the cement concrete and the epoxy resin mixtures, of the dimensions and reinforcement of the composite beam, and of the test procedures and equipment used. The most notable result was the total absence of cracking in the resin component up to the breaking point. The plasticity of the material in conjunction with the reinforcement, produced elongations up to a maximum of 0.3 per cent. /TRRL/
