BENDAWAY WEIRS REDIRECT RIVER FLOW TO PROTECT HIGHWAY BRIDGE ABUTMENTS
This paper will present the planning, theory, design, construction methods and costs, and first-year results obtained from two comprehensive bank stabilization, current realignment, and bridge protection projects utilizing Bendaway Weirs to stabilize eroding bends immediately upstream of highway bridges on both a large river and a small stream.
