REHABILITATION OF THE MACOMBS DAM BRIDGE

The rehabilitation of the 100-year old Boller-designed Swing Span over the Harlem River and its approaches is discussed. This project will bring the rating of the structure up to HS20, replace the roadway deck, repaint the entire structure and perform other needed repair work. The rehabilitation work will retain the structure's historic character. Construction will be performed during the winter to accommodate the traffic demands of nearby Yankee Stadium. Problems encountered and the solutions developed for this project which may be of interest are described.
