PROBABILISTIC-BASED ASSESSMENT OF SWEDISH ROAD BRIDGES
A revised decision process of the Swedish National Road Administration for administration and assessment of the safety of bridges with probability-based approach as standard when bridges need a higher classification, is presented. The legal justification for application of probabilistic-based assessment is given, followed by two examples showing the possibilities including the potential future large cost savings, due to avoided or reduced strengthening and rehabilitation projects. For the covering abstract see ITRD E106406.
