OPTOELECTRONIC HYBRID LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION SYSTEM
In this paper, the authors present a novel real-time optoelectronic hybrid license plate recognition system. The characters are extracted from the license plate using a software algorithm. An optical co- processor and a wavelet transform are used to recognize the characters with accuracy. The system is shown to be faster and more accurate than conventional systems due to its ability to instantly carry out multichannel parallel processing.
