OVERHEAD OPTICAL SENSOR FOR VEHICLE CLASSIFICATION AND AXLE COUNTING
This paper describes an overhead optical sensor designed for vehicle classification and axle counting applications. The sensor uses a combination of axle number and spacing to classify the vehicle. The methodology is based on a side-fire laser range-image vehicle database.
