TRAIN-INTERLOCKED SIGNALS AND SIGNAL PROCESSING AT INTERSECTING POINTS CLOSE TO RAILROAD CROSSINGS

This paper describes a method for reducing traffic congestion by using train-interlocked signals as part of a priority plan for streetcars in Tokyo. The method involves a crossing-interlocked green signal control system which allows cars to pass without temporarily stopping. The paper also discusses safety and environmental concerns associated with crossing-interlocked signals.
